Any tricks and tips on getting rid of alot of algae?
Tried my hand at a planted tank a while back and think i overfertalized. Now I want rid of this stuff.
THe brush I got is worthless. Any tools that work good before I go spending alot of money needlessly?

How long do you leave the tank lights on?

Too much light is not good......

They are usually on about 10 to 12 hours a day.

floating plants take up alot of nutrients from the water, and block out some of the lighting, so reallly help in getting rid of algae. ever considered algae eaters? and magnetic algae scrapers do a great job on the aquarium glass. make sure your tank isnt in direct sunlight as well. your aquarium lights should be fine on for that amount of time, as i have mine on for 15hrs of the day and have no algae problems.

hope this helps.
