Hey

Im looking for some advice on my aquatic plants. I have two varieties of Hygrophila and one Sagittaria variety. These plants were doing great till recently. They have giant rootballs. I a 25 Gallon aquarium, and a double flourescent strip light providing good light. I fertalize once a week with sera plant fertalizer. The water temperature is around 78-80. Anyone have any idea why the leaves are curling, and some leaves are turining reddish?

Also, the fish recently showed sighns of ich, so they are being treated. My water test came out o.k, at my local pet shop. I removed the plants so they would not be harmed by treatments. So I treat the plants too to prevent ich from reoccuring?

Thank YOu

Leaves curl because of nutrient deficiencies. First and foremost, Carbon <CO2> then I suspect Potassium..if you provide both, I would move to NO3.
When you say 2 flourescent strips providing good light.....what do you mean? How many watts? How large is your tank? Do you dose ferts? What is your plant mass, and bio load? All questions that are pertinent to your situation. Often times, people get the plants and just because they heald onto life for a couple months, they think the plants are doing fine, when, in fact, they are dying a slow death because of a lack in one or more things. it is only a matter of time before it declines exponentially from there. I don't think your ich treatment has anything to do with it. Lets gets some answers and go from there.
