help with tank mates

al;right, im putting in some Apostograma Agasizi's in my 20 gallon, what would be some intresting tank mates, that wont bug them when they mate? i really like cats, but i know that'll be an issue, and how would a rubber nose pleco fare in the tank?? i definetly do not like livebeares, and would prefer to stay away from tetras (althoigh im not totally against them). im kinda looking for mid, to top dwelling fish, unless there are some very inactive bottom dwelers that would interfere with the spawning of the apistos.

Hi,

Zebra Danios stay mostly at the top level and are not tetras.

Also Cherry Barbs would work good too.

A couple of Dwarf Gouramis would be nice too.

zebra danios are too active for a 20

if you wants cats, why not go with some cory's?

cherry barbs use the mid level of the tank most of the time, and the red coloring they have would really look good in the tank, they dont school though

neons or cardinal tetras would also add color in a nice school..

Hi,

In my opinion Zebra Danios are fine in a 20 gallon. He said that if he gets a bottom dwelling fish, it should be pretty inactive. Cories are very active.

I agree that the danios are probably to active for a 20 gallon. They want more room to run around in and play. Maybe some rasboras. I like the harelequin rasboras. They are tight schoolers and are just way too cute. It looks like they are wearing little tuxedos. A bigger rasbora to consider are the brilliant rasboras. They have some nice coloring and seem to be irredesent under the lighting. Just my thoughts.
