It came with the tank but the filters look cheap and u can see through them..so i dont think its picking up what its supposed to since there are big spaces for stuff to flow through. any input would be nice
i figured it wasnt gunna do that job, thank god i get paid tomarrow. what kind of filter would u reccomend for a 30 gal tank , thats relitivly inexpensive.
I have Pengiun Bio Wheels on both my 10 and 55 gallon and they work well. Whatever you decide to get, if you have a Petsmart near you, go to Petsmart online and print out the pricing for the filter and take it in. Petsmart price matches to its own website and you will save a lot of money.
I have a Whisper 30-60 on my 38 gallon aquarium. I have been very happy with its performance. I also have a EMP 400 on my 55 gallon. EMP also makes a 280 (I belive) which is more your size. That is the one with the bio-wheel. I do like the bio-wheel better than the Whisper's bio thing (for lack of a better word). The Whisper is quieter, that's what it has going for it. It is in the bedroom so I appreciate that at night.
I don't go with this rule I usaly look at 4 depending on the type of filter. I always recomend 10 though becouse you may not maintain like I do. I make my own filters that work awsome. They are not always cheaper but they seem to work better. Give it a try go DIY and don't stock to heavy tell you get it done. Right now I am building my filter for my 45 and am running a filter made for a 5-10gal. I have perfect water and very little deb. even when vacuming. I off course added extra material that helps.
DIY'ing is realy easy and will give you a greater sence of accomplishment.
