hi im new here and just a question i have is, when water changing i just change the water but i dont go under the water to get rid of the poo and my question is do i still remove ammonia and all the other stuff thats harmful to my fish? i change me water a lot is just that i dont go under to suck up anything thanks in advance

well, in the short term, you are removing the harmful chemicals, BUT, in the long run, you will be doing more harm than good, because they will come back quicker each time you dont remove them. SO if you really dont want to gravel vacume, every time you go and do a water change, make shure you move the gravel around a lot, so it all gets pushed up into the water colum, and sucked up by the filter, then when the tank clears, change the filter media, and clean out the filter as per usual. at least this way, you break up most of the stuff that is poluting your water.

thanks for the help i have another question, what if 2 airline tubes in the tank and one suckin the water out with just gravity and the other putting water in from the sink how would i be able to remove all the chlorine in the tank without putting chemicals in there like every hour or sumn if you know what i mean.

are you running that kind of set-up all the time? people who do that use pre-treated or aged, heated water that is safe for the fish and held in large containers, not water directly from the tap.
