I was setting up my digital camera to take some pictures of my tank...so I put it on the tripod as close to the tank as possible. However it seemed a bit dark, and since I didn't want to use the flash, I turned on all the lights I had in the room. It still seemed a bit dark so I opened up the blinds and sunlight was shining straight on the tank...
All of a sudden my glow light tetras went INSANE! The little males started chasing the females all over the place. Eventually a female would cruise into one of the bushier plants...the male would follow...and they'd do their little dance. After a bit they would both come out and start chasing again...repeating over and over.
The black neons didn't seem to care...even when a glow light got a little too amped and chased them too.
I watched for a while...and as an experiment closed the blinds. Within a minute they had all chilled out again and resumed normal activity. I opened the blinds...and it was like someone turned on Barry White. Insane!
I've read that sunlight will stimulate mating behavior...but that was more than stimulating...it was like a freaking off/on switch.
Too cool...way too cool.
