He was the Runt. Not a Blue diamond though.
He is my longest surviving fish. He survived many of my early mistakes as well as the brutality of his tankmates. Constant stress led to extreme fin rot. He has been like that for years--it is not a current condition or from any recent water quality issues. Ironically, he survived while the others from my first school died. I listed him as a brown because his body is brown even though he has cobalt blue fins. The others I bought were labelled. I had to guess with him what type he was.
The other fish are all relatively new. He had been alone for about 6 months, during which time he grew to monster size, but the fin rot appears to be permanent. If there is a way to reverse it, I'm all ears. I have made costly errors in the past, all of which I am intending to remedy with this latest batch. VTwinfanatic inspired me to give another go around with discus. When I first came to these forums, I was strongly considering changing to saltwater, but I was reminded just how great these fish are. I kept them well for nearly 5 years, but then sloppiness and laziness caused me to lose all but the one.
