huge pleco.

I was recently given a twenty gallon tank with a pleco( he went away to college and no longer had time to care for it). This pleco is huge! It is approximately 14 inches long. He apparently has had him in this tank since 2002 and I was just wondering how long he can survive at this size in this tank. 2 feetx1 foot x1 1/2 feet

Get it out ASAP. If it is a common (most likely) it can get to 2 feet, close to 3 feet on rare occasions. A 20 gallon tank is WAY too small. As you can see he is longer than the tank is wide, very bad for the fish. Take him to your LFS or get a much bigger tank to prevent permanent damage if it has not happend already.

I can't believ the guy I got him from let him get that big without getting a bigger tank. I have a friend with a 110 gallon I think is gonna take him. I hate to see him all cramped up in here.He is an amazing beautiful fish and I hate to see him go but I don't have the money for a bigger tank right now. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Ghost_knife where do u live any where in Cali? cuz i have a pleco i was going to give to my LFS he is getting to big for my tank (about 10inches) if u want him though and you are close he would be much happier with you im sure heh :D
