I just moved my 3 1/2 month old baby balloon belly into her new home, a 10 gallon. She's been in there for almost two weeks now. I was gone for a week and a half (but had a friend feeding) and since I've been back, I've been watching her a lot and she's really inactive, and hides most of the time.
She's almost always in the bottom corner of the tank or hiding in the plant; almost always regardless near the bottom. She does swim around the bottom, but usually sticks to one side of the tank or the other- she doesn't use up the whole tank. She appears healthy and is eating. I've been doing regular water changes and plan on going to my LFS for a water check tomorrow. I've been thinking about getting a dwarf platy friend for her, since they would be similar in size.
Is it possible that she's afraid of such a large space (was previously in the 2 1/2 gallon)? Also, the air stone (one of those circular volcano things that you bury under the gravel) is kind of powerful, so I wondered if it could be too much for her. She does swim up to the top for food, but it seems to be slightly difficult for her.
Would adding a similar sized friend help? Or is there anything else I should be worried about? I will post water parameters tomorrow.
Thanks for any advice- I love this little fish!

I am going through the same thing with a little red platy. Been advised to give hime time so that it can get accustomed to the new surroundings.
