I'm just looking for some advice on my 55gallon tank move. I've got a place to set up my live rock for awhile and a temp tank for my fish. My question is what to do with the substrate. I have ~40lbs (when I bought it) of aragonite sand/chunks. What should I do with that? Should I just transfer it? Should I try to wash it?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've always left just enough water to cover whatever substrate I had and moved it all at once. I moved a 30, a 50, and a 55 like this. However, the only marine tank I moved was a 20 gallon and the trip was three hours. In all cases I drove straight to the destination and setup immediately. I brought about half the water from each tank with me.
The only alternative is to put it in buckets with tank water--aerate the water if possible--a battery operated air pump would do the trick<---depends on how long the trip is for this to even be necessary. IMO
