View Full Version : Additional Aeration?

I recently set up a new 10 gallon tank in my living room and thought I'd try a new type of filter. I purchased a Millenium 1000 which is an 'off the back' type filter. I was wondering though if this is enough to adequately aerate the tank water.

I have always used air wands or stones before; but since the Millenium's air pump is internal, I'd have to purchase a separate pump in order to hook one up.

All of my plants are artificial so they are obviously not adding any additional oxygen either!

The tank has been set up for about two months now, and all fish seem happy and healthy - I just wanted to make sure they stay that way!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

if you have had fish in for 2 months and they are doing fine then I don't think you have to worry about putting air stones in. However, if you like the look of the bubbles and believe your fish will benefit from extra air then you should buy a pump. Pumps adequate for 10 gallon tanks are very inexpensive.

Thanks! Yeah, I figured it wasn't a big deal, just wanted someone else's opinion since I'm by no means an aquarium expert - and I usually don't go different, I just stick to the tried and true formula. :)
