I'm sure this has been discussed before...
Needing opinions on Discus. I'm planning a 92 gallon corner discus tank. Not necessarily looking to breed, just for show. How many adults would make a good number to end up with when the tank is fully stocked and does there need to be an emphasis on male/female ratio?
Thanks!

Discus are schooling fish so I would recommend no less than five or six of them and they should all be added at the same time since they do establish a pecking order. In a 90 gallon corner tank I think you could probably get away with six or seven of them.

Thanks all...
I was planning a pleco, but only a bristlenose as I've read that's the only pleco that can be added to insure the safety of the discus.

You could comfortably fit 8-10 adult discus in a 90 gallon tank. Only problem you may find is that adult discus arent cheap. If you want some full sized adults, I have many for sale...

as Ryan suggested 8-10 discus..I personally would go for one color pattern maybe two ..but they are impressive fish.

Because of the shape not the size of the tank is why I sais six or seven discus. The footprint of this kind of tank is not that big. Don't you have to consider that when trying to figure out the right number of occupants for any kind of tank?

Thanks for your input. I do know that adults are not cheap. I plan on getting younger ones - 2 or 3 inches - and watch them grow. The footprint of the tank is a concern, I agree. I'd love to have more room for a wider tank for them, but the tank is going in the bedroom and that corner is the space I have to work with for now. So, if that limits me to a couple less fish, that's the way it'll have to be until I can expand. This will be tank number four for me, it's getting really addictive!

actually your suggestion is a very sound suggestion.
