well with the help of all you, im pretty much done with it. i need a few #s in the ? spots. so any help is sweet. thanks.

Top:
• Hatchet Fish (12)
Top / Middle:
• Platys (4)(1 male & 3 female) (angelfish food)
• Small Tetras (?) (diamond or bleeding heart)
Middle:
• Angelfish (6)
Middle / Bottom:
• Large Tetras (skirts) (?)
Bottom:
• Corydoras (peppered, bronze, three line, or schwartz's) (8)
• Loaches (5)
• Pleco (2)
• Kuhli (dojo) loach (2)

i can also move down on numbers on like the hatchts if needed. they are just so i have some action at the top.

pick either the loaches or corydoras, and only one school of tetras (bleeding hearts) and get 18 of them. knock down your hatchet school to 8
so you should have
8 hatchets
4 platys
18 bleeding heart tetras
6 angels
2 (small, like bristlnoze or rubberlip) plecos
8 corydoras OR 7 loaches (bump up your number, choose one species of loach)

few questions

1) why not skirts?
2) why the loaches or corys? i have talked to people on here that have them combined in smaller tanks and they are fine.
3) why no dojos?

bump?

1) you can go with black skirts if you want, but bleeding hearts school tighter and like bigger groups.
2) the loaches and corydoras are competing for the same food and space, and the loaches will outcompete the corydoras, and most get larger.
3) you can have dojos, but you should stick with one and boost the number of individuals in the group

^^ thanks. they came and got my tank to fix.

Now that's great news, Brian! Hope it's a reasonable charge. Sounds like you're developing an interesting "tank movie" with the possiblities. One thing I've found personally preferable--no matter size of tank, stick to fewer species in larger groups rather than a billion different kinds of fish. Just my opinion. Look forward to pix!!! Happy trails. :dive2:

new list is

Top:
• Hatchet Fish (8)
Top / Middle:
• Platys (4)(1 male & 3 female) (angelfish food)
• Small Tetras (18) (diamond or bleeding heart)
Middle:
• Angelfish (6)
Bottom:
• Loaches (7)
• Pleco (2) (small guys like snowball, rubbermouth, bristlenose)
• Kuhli (dojo) loach (2)

4) do you think platys babies will be good angelfish food? how often do they have babies?
5) might get a few snails, or one larger snail to help keep the algae down...what kind do you reccomend and why?
6) will snail eggs get eaten by the loaches? if not what kind dont breed?
7) thanks for the help. esp. jm1212.

4) the platys will have babies every month or so, but you should still give them a flake food and other types of food on a regular basis.
the angels only act as a population control so your platy count stays at 4 and doesnt explode to like 64 after the first month. they'll enjoy picking them off, as will the hatchets. tetras and loaches if the babes wander to far down the water colum

5)you should wait a bit before you get any type of algea eater, and whatever algea is in the tank will get mowed down by your two plecos.

6)thats what im here for :)
