hi everyone! recently i finished my 200 gallon freshwater aquarium and i was thinking about putting in a few plants. If i were to put the air pump ( a rena 400) outside, would it pump the CO2 through the water?
hi welcome to AC! i havn't experienced the use of a CO2 system, but im pretty sure if theres an air pump blowing bubbles, the CO2 will just escape through the surface. again, i don't use co2 so im not sure.
You won't get any more CO2 into your water column than what is available in the air...and it's only about 330ppm in our good ol' atmosphere.
If you wan't to do CO2 fertilization, you're going to have to bubble it in. I've been using DIY CO2 using sugar and yeast for about a year now, and I'm just now making the switch to pressurized CO2 via a Milwaukee regulator setup. Hoping it will save me a lot of sugar water mixing!
