Saw some guy selling them on Ebay. Seem like a pretty cool fish that's perfect size for the 150. Anyone have any first hand experience with them? So far I've only been able to find scant info about them, mainly about how the Romanians like to eat them.

for one, you'll want a pond, not a 150 gallon. they can get up to 4'
and they are a cold water fish.

part of the reason your finding scant info is because they really are not suited for the aquaria hobby

Acipenser ruthenus(sterlet sturgeon) one of the smaller stugeon species.. rarely attains a length over 3'(in captivity)...in it's natural habitat can reach over 4'...you need a larger tank than a 150..it is recommend atleast 300 gallon aquarium. this species , as are most sturgeons, is a bottom dweller.

it is also a cool water species..warm water max 74 degrees for short period during the summer. It is recommended to try and keep the water temp between 54-65 degrees. and recommended to air airation if the temp get around 70.

it is also recommended to have very good circulation and water current.(many species of sturgeon live in rivers..aka oxygenated moving water.)
the water should be very clear and clean.

judging from the parameters..you would need exception filtratio, a large tank, lots of water movement(river tank) and most likely a chiller. to keep this species would be a bit daunting for the average hobbyist.

thanks - I knew what to expect from the local sturgeon species and the advertised 20" max length seemed a little incongruous to the 7-8ft of the sturgeon found in the Ottawa river and great lakes system. I'll be building a large tank sooner than later, my SA redtail falls into nearly the same params as the sturgeon with the exception of ideal temperature. Really the reason it attracted my attention was that it was described as a continuous swimmer, much like a shark, which would have been a great accent to my lazy arse nocturnal catfish. Sounds like it might make a good pal for the pond I plan on digging in the next few years.
