Here's a picture of my newly cycled 36 gal tank ... have had it up and running for about a month now ... got 2 clowns and and assortment of red-legged hermits and snails in there. Has about 25 lbs of LR and 20 lbs of base rock.

Cheers!

Looks good! Wish mine still looked that clean after my cycle.

What type of lighting do you have?

Dang! That is a really nice tank and like everyone said, very clean and clear looking!

What have you done to keep the algea down and all of that? My tank looks really sort of skummy right now because of the algea and just finishing up the nitrogen cycle and all that.

I really try to stay on top of keeping the glass clean of algea and stuff, but I cant keep up usually. I also found that my tank has a lot of water streaks on it from the salt water and I am not sure how to keep the glass nice and clean for more than a day or so.

Nice job though. Very crispy!

Thanks for all the good words guys :)

Uncarved Block - I don't currently have any special lighting in it. Its only a single bulb a 50/50 combination of 6500K trichtomatic daylight phosphor and actinic 420 phosphor lamp. I have ordered a Coralife 24" Aqualight W/2-1 Watt Lunar Moon LED Lights yesterday from Big Als though which should provide much better light for the aquarium, and I should have some better looking pictures as well :)

Tommy – touch wood, I’ve never really had an algae bloom as such in my tank. I’ve been keeping up with the regular maintenance, and nothing more really. One thing that I think might be helping is that I get my water from the LFS – its premixed RO/DI water so I wonder if that’s part of the reason for it keeping any cleaner or not? Also, I keep a close watch on my nitrAtes and do the required water changes to keep them down, at least until the bacteria can build up enough to handle them by themselves. I think this might also be a reason for the lack of bad algae growth. The biggest task as you also noted is getting the salt streaks off the glass. That’s quite a task as well. I use a magnetic cleaner which seems to work well for me without having to stick my hand in the tank.

I do have one concern though that I need some of your thoughts on. Since the day I’ve added them, the clowns have never moved from the top corner of the tank, as you can see in the picture. At first I thought that they were just not used to their new home an hadn’t really ventured out in the rocks and stuff. But a week in now and I’m starting to get a wee bit concerned. Am I doing something wrong or not doing something to get them comfortable enough to venture out into the rest of the tank?

Thanks again!

Thanks a lot!! Yeah, it took a LONG time to get the rocks in place to where they won't topple over :)

Well ... I'm not decided yet on what other fish I'm going to add. Given the size of the tank, I really can't add a whole lot. I'm looking at adding one of more of firefish, some kind of goby, or a six line wrasse.

Yeah, the fish do look lost and I can't figure out why. They only hang out in the top corner of the tank (been in there for a week now) ... they swim around just fine, are breathing normal, and eat really well too. So, I don't know why they aren't exploring the rocks yet??

Cheers!
