Hey guys what do you think of the Marine Betta?
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=364

I have read two very different articles on them and just wanted to get your opinions. One said they will eat all your small fish and shrimps and stuff but another one said that they are very shy fish that will hid most the time and u should place food for it in front of its hiding place to eat or it wont come out till its starving and that its fine with smaller fishes but should not be housed with larger more aggressive fish that will out compete it for food.

So which one of these are right? or are any of them right?

Both statements are correct. They'll grow to aprox. 8" and will eat smaller fish and inverts, especially shrimp...but, they're also shy fish, hiding most of the time, when the lights are on and are out more after the lights go off.

Well the one article said they were pretty peaceful and the lady that wrote it has had 2 in her life and neither have killed any of her smaller fish or inverts (could just be luck I know) So would you say they are relatively safe in a community tank?

If some1 that has one or has had one could tell me there experience it would be very appreciated if not then any info would be just wonderful :D

I have one of these guys, I've lost a couple of hermits but nothing major. Mine also eats pellets which is very rare considering. Can post pics if neccessary. mine's an adult species. had for 6 months now reached 8.2 inches and has stopped. in 130G REEF tank. one of the more peaceful members of the tank

That’s great Ghost_knife ya i would love to see some pic of your tank and the betta if you don’t mind posting them :D

Also that is just what i wanted to hear (which is rare in the fish i chose to want lol) if i do get one mine will be living in a nice 125gallon fish only tank hope that’s a suitable home for one. they said they only need 50 gallon

Hey just thought of this I am getting a free 50 gallon tank from a friend and was going to set it up for a snowflake eel because I have always wanted one of those. Would the marine betta be ok with the eel?

mine is ok with my Eel.

I'll shoot you some pictures when I get updated ones, I have an outdated MB pic,

this pic dosnt do him justice, he's got a purple Flair around him now and the yellow fins accentuate him soo much. Will get better pics tomorrow...

FWIW, dont put him in a 50G tank. they need 75G minimum to be happy and act somewhat normal. It's not Fair to it to keep in minimum Requirements...

Great betta i cant wait for the next pics and no worries i wont put him/her in the 50gallon i will find something though because i would love to put the betta in with the snowflake eel they just fit so well together so seeing as that works i will plan for that.

Thank you for all your help on this Ghost_knife :D
