I think there something wrong with my banjo cat, all day its been swimming around and for the past 6 hrs its been sitting behind the tube for the filter. If you move it he'll go down to the bottom them swim back up and stay there. I checked ph, nitites, ammonia all came out normal but my nitrates are between 10 and 20 possibly closer to 20.

Does he have somewhere to hide? What is your substrate? They like to hide under sand all day, but if housed with gravel will hide under rocks or other dark places.

I will agree that he is probably just hiding. Shoot, I had to poke mine every once in awhile just to make sure he was still alive...silly little creatures they are.

Well checked on him again this morning and back behind the tube again, but he seems weaker than yesterday. What do they usually like to eat. I've been feeding shrimp pellets and he's been nibbling/eating small pieces of those.

Also, found out theres a 40 gal bowfront with stand used at another store, the owner's tested the tank and no leaks in it just needs a light kit. This sound like a good deal or no?

Mine seem to like eating flake food better. I think mine are too small to eat shrimp pellets. I just release a pinch of flake under the water after dark and it sinks. Every couple of days they go berserk over it, swimming around like crazy. Even when they don't go crazy they still eat it, just waiting til I'm not watching.

Every once and a while (once every one or two weeks at least) I melt down a huge chunk of brine shrimp to feed to all my fish (multiple tanks). They like that too : ). Haven't tried blood worms, but I suspect they'd be happy to have that as well.
