I think it will be pretty messy.... but the idea sounds like it would work. Give it a try and tell us how it goes :)

I want to spawn some brissle nose and want to have a unlimited source of live alge on hand. The saveing it for later use was an after thougt or would frezzing in a small cubed tray be better?
i would think drying it with a food dehydrator. microwave, or oven would be the best solution. Mircowaving might kill any nasties that might be in with the algae as an extra plus.
it will probably want to stick to any thing you dry it on so use that baking paper or the non stick aluminum foil. I have heard that the fish food companies dry some of there food on glass sheets and then scrap it off.
