Just got a 55 gal tank Monday to upgrade the 29 I had my JD's and Plec in. Fish are happy, swimming around, no mini cycle-yet (reused old filter and gravel/decor/plants/some water from 29.

Problem is, the tank looks empty and bare now!

Gonna get a few more Giant Danios to replace the two that went carpet diving from old tank, but they mainly stay at the top of the tank. Ralph the plec is stuck on the tree stump at the left of tank most of the time. Jack and Bob the JD's stay in the Giant Vals planted at extreme right of tank or the aforementioned stump.

Maybe it's because the tank is so big (to me anyway), that it's almost boring.

(Ok, Art, quit rambling and ask the question...)

What else could I add the liven up the tank?

My 29 gallon community is a tad too lively, so could move the Long fin Black Skirt Tetras, or the BA Tetra's (although dread the thought of the mayhem that would insue from trying to net them...), or move the Angels from the 20 (they are getting moved to the 29 when I upgrade that one to a 55)

honestly, i wouldnt add anything else, the JD's will need a bigger tank than a 55, you'd need at least an 80gal for both of them

if they are small, go with cichlids their size, like a firemouth or two, or just add the dither, like the danios, or some tiger barbs
 
with 2 jacks you will have trouble keeping them in a 55 long term. However, if you want to add something, I have some featherfin synos and raphael cats in my 55 with my JD. The bottom is fairly active and the JD tends to stay in the middle and top of the tank with the cats running around in the caves on the bottom of the tank.
 
Im not sure your fishes sizes but you can add some more Jakcs or something if you like for a time till your fish start to gorw out. JDs arnt to much money and you might be able to traid them in once your fish start to grow.
This might be bad advice for people with feelings. I don't get as attached as most people. When ever I went to sleep or school as a kid my mom got rid of any pets I had she desided she didn't want anymore.
I love my fish but if something happens I don't take as long morning. This isnt good for relationships either. I never know when it will be my last time talking to some one.
 
Fishie sizes:

"Jack" (JD) is about 6-7 inches; got him back in April

"Bob" (the other JD) is about 3-4; got him 2 months ago

"Ralph" (plec) about 8 inches; and yes I know he's gonna get bigger; trying to find another home for him.

Giant Danios; 2 inches. Have 4 now (had 6 but two went "carpet diving"-have better hood now), thinking of geting 4 more to get more action in tank.
 
I wouldn't add anything else either.
Maybe they just need time to adjust.
