Was sitting on the sofa last night, watching Jack in his new 55, and was surprised to see him open his mouth REAL wide like he was yawning. A couple times. He was just hovering in the water, just chillin'.

Bored? Tired?

Side note-was amazed at the size of his mouth!

Yeah, a lot of fish do this from time to time. You should see my arrowana do it. Looks like a steam shovel getting ready to eat an apartment building.

my bichir does it, looks like a snake getting ready to swallow an egg. i doubt it's "boredom", just simple stretching.

saw my fish yawn earlier thought his eyes were going to pop out very worrying!!! :)

my bettas and black phantom tetras have yawned before, its especially interesting with my bettas because their fins will slightly flare open and then they will "chew" the water afterwards.

My Rainbowfish yawn all the time. They spread all their fins out at the same time so I assume they're just stretching. They do it more often close to lights out though, maybe they are tired...

My knife fish does it a lot, really big mouth

ya'll just made me yawn with all that talk. contagious.
