I have a 55 gallon tank with 6 malawi cichlids. It is fairly well decorated, although maybe a bit on the sparse side. Filtration consists of an undergravel plate with two powerheads and an Aquaclear 500 power filter.

Lately, one of my fish has taken to hanging out by the uplift tube in the back corner. He/she still eats normally, just spends all of his spare time floating in place near the tube. The other fish in the tank are unaffected.

Does this sort of behavior indicate that the particular fish is being pushed around by the other tank inhabitants? If so, what can I do to fix this (short of removing the fish)?

yup.....more than likely someone is giving that fish a hard time. One thing you can try is taking out the aggressor, then rearranging the rockwork to make new territories, then putting the aggressor back in. Just a thought. HTH.............

Yeah, he's probably being chased around. Short of bringing him back, you could try adding more decorations. Otherwise you could look into some target fish. These will divert the attention of the dominant one that's pushing him around and make the "victim" feel more secure. A school of giant danios or rainbows would work.
