I finally got my hands on some actual Siamese Algae Eaters (SAE). Everything I've read have indicated that, if you can find them, these are the absolute best algae eating fish. They will eat different kinds of algae that other "algae eating" fish wont touch, and they're very peaceful.
I went ahead and got more than I needed because I figured there would be others like myself who have been looking for these guys.
You can find more information in my original post here (http://www.nashvilleaquarist.net/Default.aspx?tabid=77&ptid=412&page=last&threadid=151&forumtype=posts) .

The prices you have are up there. My LFS sales them for 4 dollars each. I just have to ask the store to order them for me.

I have a group of 4. I was so surprised when my LFS started carrying them. The most interesting thing I've found is that they are a beautiful fish and deserve to get some credit for qualities other than their algae eating rep.

It's great you have a LFS that has such low markup on fish orders. At Aquatic Critter (by far the best LFS in the area) they charge nearly $20 per SAE to order them.

agreed, they are absolutely beautiful as they get bigger. They have very defined scales and they flutter around as they swim, taking a rest or sleeping on plant leaves too. Mine grow extremely slowly but i have a feeling they are going to get bigger.

I have a school of 10. Arizona Aquatic Gardens. If you can afford it, get a nice school. They add nice lines to any aquarium. Mine keep my 125 planted spotless.

No, shipping is your choice. I'm not a wholesaler or anything, I just had trouble finding these from somewhere that wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg shipping so I thought I'd offer them. Most of the people who are buying them from me are picking them up.

How much do you think it would be to have 6 shipped? I just got two locally and they are doing a great job on my algae.
Thanks,
Ted

The six SAEs would be $6 each = $36. As I said, shipping is up to you. It depends on where you're located and how you want them shipped.
