I have a 5" Red Devil in a 75g Tank and its lookin too bare, id like to put some kind of inexpensive schooling fish in with him, any thing that could make it and stay alive?

If you could find some large silvedr dollars, that's one choice. There aren't many fish that won't be abused, though. Make sure you provide some hiding places for anything that you add. Large rainbows might work as well--though I've never seen large ones for sale.

The Silver Dollars would be a little too large for the current tank, and I cannot think of anything else which schools and could take a beating from an RD. You could have fast-moving fish, but they might tick the RD off enough to drive him into a fit of piscicidal mania.

Missed the size--in a 75, the adult fish will be cramped.

You might be able to get away with a small school (5-6) of rainbows.

They are fast and tough enough to avoid the devil.

You could also always go with some of the other cheaper larger barbs. This way if and when they do get picked off the replacements will be chaep.

IE: Spanner/T-Bar barbs and or Arulius barbs. With these 2 fish you could get away with a school of 8 -10.

I don't think that the tigers are a good idea they probably will not last all that long.

From my personal experiences with tigers they tend to get slower as the get older.

That shape alone really isn't built for the kind of speed that they will need to avoid a predator like a red devil.

Although the red devil might like it.

Okay, there is a difference between Tiger Barbs, and T-barbs (which are also known as Spanner Barbs). Before we proceed further, we must recognize this fact and then say exactly which sort of Barb we mean.

Sorry I mis-read the post. I could swear that I saw tiger barbs.

The T-bars/spanners would probably work. As I previously mentioned.

They grow to a nice size and are really quick. Although some are less quick than others as my synspilum would vouch for.

Scott, I apologize for my tone...I was just seeing that this thread could fall apart if we didn't clarify, but I said it a little too strongly.
