Well I just found some bloodworms in my freezer and decided to give some to my bettas. I don't have tweezers so I just kind of put my fingers in there and they just pick it right from my hand. I've heard of larger fish like oscars doing this but had no idea such small fish would have the cohones to be hand-fed. Even the male who I've only had for a week does it. Any one else had these kind of experiences?

I used to do this all the time, mostly because my son loved to watch them come up to daddy's hand. Sometimes they would come up and nibble my finger when I didnt have any food and was getting ready to water change.
I have also done this once about 3 weeks after I got my clown knife. And my wife has gotten her ray to eat out of her hand already.

Yes, my betta will do that too. Glass catfish do sometimes, but not as often.

And it becomes a great way to make your friends scream like little girls when your fish bite them :D

My bichir eats out my hand, and my old clawed frog would do it sometimes too.

my bettas will bite my finger if theres no food on it. ocassionally i will hand feed them freeze dried brine shrimp cube pieces and freeze dried bloodworms. they like the wrestle the bloodworms from my fingers as they are especially tough.

My pea puffers ate out of my hand right away. They're so curious. How on earth those fish survive in the wild is beyond me.

My bettas and yellow tang do this. I'm still trying to get my gourami to do this as well.

Last time I got my hand wet (pouring new water in), my pristellas were biting me.

My stepmom has a 40g tank full of mollies at her house. That tank is soo much fun to put your hand in because they swarm around you and swim in and around your fingers. They even nibble (more like a rasp I guess) your fingers.
When I still lived there (my dad's house) I used to take care of the tank for her and feed the fish frozen bloodworm cubes with my hand. It left my fingers numb, but I guess it was worth it.

I think all but the most skittish fish, and perhaps algae eaters like otos, consider fingers to be a possible food source. Bettas are no exception. I think my red guy would eat me whole if I fit in his mouth!

As soon as my SA redtail wakes up, he gets hand fed some sort of meaty treats. And as I've said in other threads, he no longer hunts other fish. But he did eat the rotten ******* crayfish I put in the 150 last week and then proceeded to puke him up a day later.

Handfeeding is a daily thing with my plecos. They rise to the surface so I can push koi pellets into their mouths, then they suck onto my thumb to hold the floating pellet in place. They also take zuchini out of my hand.

I daily hand feed my male betta. I will dip my finger in water to make it a bit damp, then either "stick" a few bloodworms or pellets to my index finger and he systematically lunges at my finger and eats the food. It's an amazing thing, really.
