Aquarium Industry

I would be interested to hear any views on the aquarium industry.
Is the industry growing? i.e booming, steady or no growth.
Is the employment of aquarists increasing?
also are you happy with the fish education level of your lfs provider?

I'm majoring in fisheries which is close as the U of M gets to Aquaculture and true ichthyology. From what I've seen the best hope for employment in the industry is the captive breeding of SW fish, particularely raising things past the planktonic stage. There is always something going on in the commercial department. The folks around here know their stuff well enough to get you going but only few I would consider "gurus".
