How "hardy" are hardy lillies?

Should I take them out of my outdoor pond? I've heard that they will weather fine. The leaves have long since been trimmed back to the bulb.

200 gallons
20" deep
Location: Approx 43-degrees north latitude (northern Massachusetts)

They should do just fine outdoors. I pull mine because there isn't water in my ponds in the winter. But they're in an unheated cellar and whe water freezes solid.
