Cloudy Water

Hey guys. I'm having trouble with cloudy water in my tank. I have a 29 gallon tank now with 2 small Oranda Goldfish. I had a cycled tank but it busted and I had to move them over to this new one. I put over half the water out of the old tank into the new one so it would cycle faster. It was up for three week just fine then over night it got cloudy. Its been that way for over a week. I've tried a black out, some water clearer chemical, and adding a better charcol to the filter. I have 2 air stones in my tank and a Bio Wheel filter. I know the tank is cycling because my ammonia is peaking. Is the cloudiness going to go away on its one? What else can I do? Thanks.

Sounds like a bacterial bloom which is normal, especially in a quick (re)cycle. Did you move over the gravel and filter as well? There would have been a lot more bacteria in the gravel and filter than the water.

The clouding will likely go away once the bacteria establish again. remember you have goldfish and thats a heavy bioload so you may need some extra water changes. You may want to look into more (bio)filtration to cope with the goldfish bioload.
