New 90 Gallon

I have just set up a new home (90 gallon) for my current stock of fish (1-Angel, 3-Platy, 2-Neon Tetra). They will be transferred from a 20 gallon tall that has been set up for 3 months and has been completely cycled with 0-Ammonia, 0-Nitrite and 20 ppm-Nitrate. The tank is filtered with a Aquaclear 30 which has served it's purpose well for the 20G. Water changes weekly of 25%.

I have a new Rena XP ready to go for the 90g. What is the best and safest way to move my current stock to new tank. I would like to keep the 20g running as I am planning on getting new fish for that tank. Can I take some filter media from the Aquaclear and put it in the XP3, then move all the fish immediately to the new tank? Is so, how much media, all? 1/2? I would think that the increased water volume for my existing stock of fish in the 90g would benefit and would do ok with just some seeding from my already establish filter. Any suggestions?

TIA

I would put the old media in the new filter and transfer half some of your fish well that size tank maybe all and keep a close eye on it you may have little mini spikes in ammonia in nitrite but they should be small. I have seeded many tanks and never had any spikes. You will also want to leave something in the 20 gallon untill you get more fish for it so that the bacteria doesn't die and you dont have to re cycle the tank.
