The one cichlid that died a week ago before it died was not using one of his fins. I am now worry because the same symptom has occured in another of my cichlids that i noticed today. Is it going to died why is it not using its fin? Also there is a little whitish on the tips of a couple fins of my fish as well as one that has a little white on the fins. I don't think it is ick because not all the fish have it. Please help m find out what is going on i do not want to loose another one.

I do weekly water changes, feed very little, the only thing that i have any of at all is nitrates. The tank has been set up for one year.

what do i do? Is there something i can buy to treat it. I only have 11 cichlids and my water quality is fine. Are they all going to slowly die off one by one?

i thought one died (9) and then you bought another (10), so youre telling me that you bought ANOTHER fish for your tank that we already told you was extremely overstocked. if you keep adding fish the problem is only going to get worse. your fish probably got the disease from the new addition.

you need to get rid of some fish. there is no way your tank's parameters are perfect. your nitrates have to be through the roof

Thats what i have told you everything is perfect except nitrates. If i really have to i will get rid of the new addition. I have only had him for 5 days.

Even after i do that then what?

I don't want to get rid of the other 10 i have had them ever since i got the tank. I cannot get another tank either no space. Would the fish be ok with 10 of thm in the 29gal. Is there anything i can treat this tank with to fix the problem. I don't want any more to die i am to attached to them, not so much the new one since i haven't had him that long.

its is going to get ripped to shreads.

if you knew that you could not get another tank, then why did you get fish that need a bigger tank, and then after one died -you know that your tank is OS as it is- why did you get another, and then after we told you that you needed to get another because the one you got a few days ago was gonig to get ripped up, why did you get another??

you need to treat the tank, so you might as well treat the new fish.

I will bring the new fish back i have a 15 day warranty from petco. But the ones i have had for ever i need to help. What do i treat them with, mela fix?

I wouldn't know i have never had thsi problem and i have had this many cichlids in there for a year and now i am finding out that there is something wrong with my tank. By the way please don't tell me that i should have known not to put these kinds of fish in my tank. It was the guys at petcos falt a year ago when he helped me. I actually just found out 3 months ago that my tank was over stocked.

All i wan to do now is figure out what i can do to fix this mess. This is not how i intended to keep fish.

first- dont listen to the people at petco anymore. but i still want to know why you got another after one died four days ago and we told you your tank was very OS. the petco dude didnt make you do that.
are you still going to get that 50 gallon tub? if you can transfer at least half of the fish from your tank and put them in there- with a filter of course- and plenty of caves.

second- you are going to need to go to the store and get some meds to treat it. marycyn 1 or 2 should work, but you should read the box and find the meds on your own. dont ask for help the people there will end up giving you something that treats anchor worm

Will this work i don't want to buy the wrong meds? I also don't want to treat them for something they do not have. Forget i ever got the new fish he is gone i brought him back a day ago. The issue i need to worry about is the 10 cichlids. How much is the meds usually.
