I just went to feed my little underwater friend to find that she has laid eggs, again!!! She laid a ton on thanksgiving. And she put them in the same spot too. Then she acts like a spaz the next few days protecting them. Why does she keep doing this and when will it stop? I thought that when they pair off they lay eggs...Shes ALL alone!!! Poor mama fish. i bet her babies would be cute.
Are the plecos gonna eat them?

many female cichlid species do this. it's not uncommon at all. as to why? they are genetically programmed to lay eggs and it's up to the male counterpart to fertilize them. no male present? no problem ... that doesn't change her genetics.

I agree with what liv2padl said.

And yes if your plecos get the chance, they will eat the eggs. Consider it free food.

Unless of course you would like to try breeding, you'll need to get a male. 2 severums in a 55gal is perfect.
