Any one ever try to run one on a brackish tank? Will they refract the water at 1.010 ? Im just thinking of trying to come up with a way to conserve some salt and even if it doesnt work as efficently as marine if it could cut down water changes by a third it would be worth the expense I think.

you can always try it but dont be sad if is doesint work within the following week you get it the skimmer has to prime and you also have to gauge the retur so it works to your tank

Even if the protien skimmer idea worked on a brakish tank, you still have to do your normal water changes. A protien skimmer will not in effect prolong this .
