Why do you want to get your nitrates up?

The tank has been cycled since last June, nitrites and nitrates are both at zero, ive had fish tanks for almost four years and never encountered this problem. I thought i did something wrong when i tested but both times it was zero. I'll test again when i get back from work to night.

I read the little packet that came with my testing kit, and it said i had to shake both test solutions (which i didn't) and now my readings say my nitrates are a little high. but.. i can handle this, so thanks for your help.
