3 parts to this thread, if you're too lazy, don't try to read :D

My tank is starting to look ugly (noticed that there's black mushy stuff on my water sprites now) and it also looks messy. So now I'm planning on RE-DOING (yes, you heard me right) my tank. the middle in middle, big in back, small in front isn't working that right because of the fact that I buy plants and they're small but they're supposed to be big, etc... so any ideas? see my sig for details on what plants i have. Right now, I'm thinking big plants on side, middle in front of big, small in front of the middle size plants with big/middle (dunno) on the back.

now... about the black mushy stuff..... lately, i couldn't put my hand in the tank and clean it because of the fact that i got 2 open cuts on both hands and stuff... along with the bettaphobia that I keep getting scared that my newest addition of betta is going to attack my hand. So I couldn't help it seeing black mushy stuff on my water sprites (*only*) for a while and not being able to get rid of it. and my milfoil collecting black stuff and debris while my anachris in the bucket, i'm afraid of touching it because the anacharis turned my bucket water all wierd and cloudy and bubbles on top but no smell.

:OT:
I just got a 10 watt bulb (attached to an eclipse lid) for free... but how do I put it on my tank lid? I can't seem to think of a place to put it on...

soo... according to my calculations...
15 watt (probably) bulb (0.75 watts per gallon)
+ 10 watt bulb (0.5 watts per gallon)
25 watts (1.25 watts per gallon)

I have plain gravel with kent liquid fert. what can I grow with this new addition to my lighting power?

Your plan for re organizing your tank sounds good. I find myself constantly moving things around too, because different plants grow at different rates and I have to move them around to keep the tank looking good.

BTW, if you are scared of your betta biting you, you better not keep any puffers other than dwarves. My figure 8 bit me the other day. OUCH!

I am more interested in the betta phobia.... I think it is quit interesting your betta can not bite you hard enough to hurt. As far as the reorganization goes sounds good. Could look good. I would maybe consider a middle section with some sort of plant that just POPS out at you. This could be said to be the trophy plant. Now back to the betta phobia and not being able to put your hand in the tank. They sell gloves that will go all the way to your sholders. If that is not an (Say there it would take to long to get) then do what I have done in the past when I had stitches. Use some sort of bag that wont let water in. Some of the black bags will leak but I have found many of the hevy dutie ones do not. Just toss your hands in it and you will still be able to hold on to things. I don't beleive your betta can bite though it eather but you may wont to check and see if there is any wornings on the bag for wording such as "Not safe in betta tanks. Betta may bite through and cause posible injery or death. Incase of betta bite seek imediant doctors attention" If this worrning is not on the bag then it should be safe.

Please take this with a grain of sand I am just giving you a hard time in fun and games. However the bags can realy help.

sounds like you have algae, maybe try injecting CO2 this time.
