hey everybody!
i was at my parents today setting up their 180 gallon goldfish tank. (no fish yet)
The aquarium itself as been running with the filter and air pump on for the last 3 weeks. When i checked the water parameters, nitrite was 0-.15, ammonia was very close to zero, im not sure about the nitrate (kit ran out), when checking the PH, i was shocked to see it at 8.6!!!!!!! reading the manual, it suggested i buy one of their products. seeing as how the nearest FS is 40 minutes away, are there any ways to lower the PH using home products?
reading up on the internet, it suggested i limit the amount of oxygen in the water. i would rather not do this
as a note, my local tap water parameters vary, ranging from 7-8 PH.
yesterday, i did a 50% water change, which lowered the PH by .2.
