I'm going to build a 300 gallon tank in about 9 months, waiting to move so I have more room.

How do I setup a sump for that big of tank?
How big should the sump be?
And can it be made out of more than 1 tank, say 2 side by side?

Any advice will help.

Thanks

I'll keep fresh water fish.

Salt water fish are more colorful but I already have the fish for the tank. I,m putting in 4 bala sharks a jack dempsey a common pleco and 3 red-tail tinfoil barbs.

i have no idea... you just want to run somthing about half of your original tank... a 150 - 200 gallon sump

and the sump would be filled half way buts whats going to be your main filtration as far as gunk removal goes?... sups usually work best for saltwater

I plan to make my own. I need to know how many chambers to use and what type of filter media i should use.

How many gallons should it be for a 300 gallon tank?
Any sites for palns would also be nice.

Thanks

Here is the one I made for my 300. Less is more. It's a 55 gallon tank and the media is bioballs, pot scrubbers, and lava rock. I'm using 2 quiet one 4000 pumps. No chemical filtration, but you could use carbon pads under the pre filter.
It keeps the water perfect, and the fish are:
1x black arowana
1x tigrinus
1x retic. sting ray
3x red head severums
2x nicaraguense
1x geophagus (2 more waiting to enter)
1x Marbled Pim (Growing out for another tank)
1x Synondontus
1x pleco
