What should I do?

Well, I'm a stupid 14 year old. You know the type I'm sure. Before you insult me though.. let me explain my situation. I've had many fish over the years... some lived. Some didn't. Recently I showed an interest in fish and went to wal-mart and bought 4 mollies. I put them in about a 1 gallon tank with a pump, heater, rocks, and a fake plant. That's it. I feed them tropical fish flakes. I'd hate to see them die. I also have a 15 gallon tank that is not in use right now... could I continue living them in the 1 gallon, or should I put them in the 15 gallon tank? Is there anything else I should do with either to ensure that they stay alive? I've read tons of threads on here and have gotten wiser but still don't understand much of it all. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not sure how big mollies get, but mine are small... inch or less long. If it helps.. ;)

Mollies could get 3-4" long so move them to the 15gl is a good choice. Just move all your old filter, subtrate, decors, etc. over the new tank.

Now how recent have you had your small tank? BTW - if you got here and asked a question, you are above average of most fish keepers out there.

Well, like Junky123 said, you're here, so you're ahead of most of the crowd. You also seem to have a good grip on basic writing skills, which is a definite plus. As far as moving your mollies to the 15 gallon..think of it this way: would you rather live in a prison cell or a place where you had room to roam about? I think you already know the answer, or you wouldn't have asked.

Btw, welcome. I wish I had access to a forum like this when I was 14.

I agree, just move as mich stuff over to the 15 gallon as possible and test the water every couple of days to check for any ammonia or nitrite spikes. Do a water change when you see those. Feed lightly for the first week as well, maybe only every other day just to make sure you don't get a polluted tank. Get into the habit of weekly water changes, maybe add a few easy live plants like Java Fern and you will have a nice tank.

I would avoid adding more fish as those mollies can get large and will do well without being crowded.

Well, thank you for all your replies... I'll certainly get them moved into the 15 gal. as soon as possible. I need to clean it first though. Kinda grimey and old. So, I'll move everything to that and see how they do. In response to Junky's post... I've had the little tank for about a year... but only set it up last week and the fish have been in it for 4 days... with no problems so far. Since it's so small I've been doing partial water changes on it everyday to make sure the ammonia doesn't kill them... Oh yeah.. and one of the Mollies I bought was pregnant, apparently. I couldn't tell a difference between the two females, besides the color, but the lady at Wal-Mart said one was pregnant. Well, yesterday morning I awoke to find just one fry swimming around. I put him in a larger bowl because I had nothing better and didn't want him to get eaten... I should probably put him into the 1gal once I get the 4 bigger ones into the 15gal. Huh?
