One of my dwarf lily split to 3 plants. The original plant has been in the tank since mid-March 2006. About a 3 weeks ago, the parent plant put out a runner that took root and has started growing as a separate plant. Two weeks after that, the parent plant detatched from the bulb and now the bulb has started sprouting a new plant. So from one bulb, I now have 3 plants. Is this how dwarf lilies propogate? None of the other 3 lilies have done this yet. I thought they would flower and, if pollenated, produce seeds. I'm also curious why it did this just a month ago rather than closer to when I put it in the tank. I did start dosing iron, potassium, and Fluorish Excell about a month and a half ago. Other than that, nothing has changed with the tank setup. Are the extra ferts triggering the plant to reproduce? I may have answered my own question but if anyone else has had experience with these plants, it would help me out.

many plants reproduce this way, not just lilies. it's normal.

my apono is about to make me 3 more as I type this...

Dosing the ferts always helps with the reproduction of the plants. That means they are getting what they need and are happy enough to reproduce for you. I have a large amazon swordplant in my 46 gallon tank that takes up about half of the space and it has reproduced twice already for me and now has sent runners out for a third time. Each time I get about nine daughter plants from the parent plant.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to know I must be doing it right on the fertilizers.
