I would like to know if I can add a pair of Bolivian Rams and anything else (was thinking about Rosy Barbs) to the current tank:

55 Gallon
Filters: Pengiun Bio Wheel 200 and Whisper 60
Non-planted

Have the following fish:
6 Diamond Tetras
6 Spotted Cory Cats
3 Dalmation Mollies
3 Female Bettas
1 Bristlenose Pleco

Water parameters are stable with ph at 8 and nitrates from 5-10.

you should add more tetras and female bettas for sure before you add anything else, and probably some female mollies (BTW, how many male mollies do you have in your tank?)

corydoras are not generally recommended to be with rams because if they spawn, the corydoras could get attacked.

Good to know on the Cories and Rams. Scratch that idea. I really like my Cories.

I am not sure what the 3 Mollies are but they have been in the tank since last summer and have no babies, so I assuming they are all the same sex. When I bought them, I told the store person, I wanted 1 male and 3 females, but one Mollie died when we had an ick breakout last summer. So I figure it was the male that died, if the store clerk gave me the correct sex fish to start with.

I had 4 female Bettas but one did not survive the trip from Maryland to Arizona earlier this month. I have been looking for more females here in Arizona and have not had a lot of luck finding any.

You may or may not have much luck finding female bettas. I don't know where you've looked ,but you could try petsmart, as they sometimes carry females (decent looking ones too) here in Colorado. I know CO only recently started getting females bettas in the fish stores I've tried. Since AZ is close, it's probably not much different there.

if you cannot find any more female bettas, then you should probably up your diamond tetras school considerably, to about 18 or 20

18 or 20 in a 55 gallon? Wow, that seems a lot of fish to me. Didn't think I could put that many in there. I have not found any Diamonds here yet, but have only been a few places. I originally got them at Petco where I lived in Maryland, so I will check Petco here to see if they have them. (Same goes for the female Bettas - got them at Petco too)

now that i think about it, it does seem like a little much... 14 will work for sure though

Hi,

I keep my Cories with breeding Firemouth and Convicts and the Cories are just fine. But that is just my experience.

You could get like 8-10 more Diamond Tetras.

Do Rams need to be in pairs? If I only got one to put with the rest of the fish, it would not breed and cause the aggressiion.
