Please :look:
Here is a brief run down on my proposed setup.
Equipment List.
Tank. 47” L x 21” H x 16” W. Hold approx 60 uk gallons.
Lighting. MH Aqua Medic Ocean 150T (60cm Long) Plus mounted centre about 6” above the water line.
Filters (external). Eheim 2229 Wet/dry filter, pump output 231 gal/hr. A Sump (heated) with an Aqua Medic Reef 500 3 stage trickle filter (built in Toboflotor 1000 protine skimmer). Eheim 1260 return pump fitted with non-return valve. Red Sea Merlin 60 Fluidization, not yet decided how I am going to use it. (Open to suggestions).
Water Circulation. 2 off Seio M1100 Super flow pumps with Aquasurge 2 channel controller.
Non of the below is written in stone so I am open for suggestions and ideas,
Tank setup. I want to keep a few fish but also some soft coral as well. The substrate I was thinking of using is medium coral gravel with grain size of about 4mm – 10mm. About 1” deep running to about 3” in areas (would like to keep a burrowing fish), adding a cup full of live sand from a friend’s tank to kick-start it. Build 2 rock areas, one at each end of the tank using ocean rock as the base and supplementing it with live rock or building a rock area from one end to just pass the centre. I would use the outer end of the tank for corals that don’t like a lot of light due to the fact my lighting is a little poor in these areas.
I’m not starting this project till early next year as I need to pass on my tropical fish. All the above equipment I have, plus some surplus which I will be passing on through ReefUK when I am up and running. I welcome any comments and idea you have to help me on my way.
Many thanks to all for your passed help.
Merry Christmas and a New Year.
