you just have to hang the plant on the edge of the plant.. dont let the leave touch water.. and you should be good from there... ushually saltwater will damage the leaves

I recently aquired some mangrove seeds via eBay. They are in a 55g mudskipper brackish tank. We'll see how they work. :)

Several of these mangroves are now beginning to sprout leaves/develop roots. I have also placed some in my reef tank that are also beginning to sprout/develop roots. I'll keep you informed.

They'll work but I hear the one's on ebay are sometimes dead when they arrive, did all of yours sprout? I was thinking about adding some directly to the tank or to a refugium if I decide to build one.

Well, it looks like out of the 20 or so mangrove "seeds" I obtained, only 3 have failed to begin sprouting (they shriveled up and turned black). It does take time however. Mine have been growing for almost 2 weeks now.

I got a group of 10 but mine had already sprouted roots. Apparently its much harder to acclimate them to brackish or salt water once the roots have started growing, which is why i think pretty much all of mine died. usually there's a choice, so go for ones with no roots and you should have better luck.
