So today I looked in my filter as I am missing 6/14 neons and sure enough there was one with a snail eating it's body. I just let the carcass drop to the substrate as I have plants and you have to imagine it to be good fertilizer  . Anyway, I look over a few minutes later and a ghost shrimp has picked the snail off the carcass and is now eating the snail. And in turn the ghosty will soon be eaten by my fish.

So there you have it, almost a full cycle of life in my 29 gallon tank!

BTW, what could be the cause of these neon deaths? Params are fine and there are no real predators in the tank.

LOL!

some neons just die like that....

they are mass spawned in SE asia, where they frequently inbreed,a dn produce weak young with mutations

or at least that my theory.

Well they are very tiny. It's just weird that they've been in there for a month and no deaths till this week.
