I am a bit confused...
on a bottle of melafix it is said "add 1tbs per 10g. repeat daily followed by 25% water change"
does it mean that I add 4tbs(if i have 40g) every day during a 7 day period and then do my 25% water change or I need to do 25% water change every day for 7 days?

Thank you

It says tablespoon? I thought it said teaspoon...

I'm pretty sure it's ok to dose daily, and then at the end of 7 days, do a water change.

You can also get this in a pond strength formula. Then it's 5 mls for 200litres. Goes a lot further.

I always use milliltres or grams or whatever as a measure. Use a syringe, scales, etc. Too much inaccuracy and confusion with spoon measures.

good point, but still, do i add the dose every day and make big water change after 7 days, or every days. the concentration will be different. I am just affraid of overdosing...

...one more question...
I added the dose of melafix yesterday and today. Now I have white foam (like the one when you warm milk) on top of the tank right above the air stone.
My both Pictuses are hiding.

If I need to do water change, then how much should it be and how much to add melafix after that

If you have an airstone, the Melafix does tend to make the water a bit foamy. I wouldn't call that abnormal.

As for the Pictus hiding...I don't know, what are your water parameters? You never said why you are using the Melafix to begin with. What's wrong with the fish?

Edit: Nevermind, I found the other thread you posted. Did you change the water before you started the Melafix treatment? You had an awful lot of salt in the water, and I'm not sure how salt and Melafix mix. It could be causing stress on the fish. If you didn't do a water change before starting the Melafix, I'd do a 40-50% water change now and start over again.

about 4 days ago, I noticed a rounded hole at the center of the one of the pectoral Raphael's catfish fins. then, both pectoral fins are split and look like somebody used not sharp scissors to cut them in different places from the end to where it starts to grow. Also, I noticed, one of my rainbows has one, not deep, cut on its caudal fin. I think it is fin rot and the day before yesterday I started to use melafix

I have 40g. tank
ph 7.8
amonia, nitrates, nitrites = 0

2 pictus catfish
3 small rainbow,
1 raphael catfish
1 buldog catfish

Those test results seem odd, If your tank was cycled you'd have some nitrAte reading. If you tank was not cycled you'd have ammonia and nitrIte reading due to the bio-load(fish waste, excess food). Can you recheck you water?
