Hello all, Just wanted to throw in my intro page..

Im fairly new to aquariums, my grandpa has a huge room in their house dedicated to them so I picked up 2nd hand from him.

Now i finally have a tank and ready to give it a try, so bear with me if I ask some oddball questions :D

I have a 55gal tank with a black cast Iron stand. For xmas i got a Whisper Tetra filter made up to 60gal. I need to get a pump and a heater before I can start really.. Also need to get some plants and some form of substrate.. Im thinking about either Moon Sand, or some kind of deep blue rock (i dont plan to have live plants so..)

Definitely read the sticky about cycling!!

and if you're cheap like me, you'll learn right away what you need to buy, and what you can make/find yourself!

Lastly, if you're grandfather has a room of aquariums, he likely has a wealth of knowledge we could all benefit from!

and welcome, from a fellow rookie! (got my tank a few days ago and jumped in the deep end before reading anything. But with help found here, I'm making it!)
 
thanks yeah i figured its easier to start freshwater then move to saltwater later.. i got a pretty good deal on a 55gal tank so i figured why not use it?

I already have the lineup of fish i want to add, even the decoration.. but first i need a heater, substrate, and a pump.. then its on to the cycling...
 
i perty much started i have a 110 g fish tank with 3 neon tetra, 3 small crayfish and a palco suck fish
