I've been researching and looking into some live food options to feed my fish that would be simple and easy to maintain and have on hand at all times.

It seems like White Worms would be pretty easy to produce and keep and it would be a constant live food source.

I would like opinions from people with experience on this and what they think?

Are white worms good for any fish or only certain types?

Also from what I read you keep them in a syrofoam box with some dirt and feed them a slice of bread soaked in lowfat milk...any other options of food to make them thrive or produce more?

Is there any danger to humans? I have 2 little ones and would like to know any dangers if any.

I'm looking for pretty much anything anyone what to say on this subject.

I already feed my fish brine shrimp, beef heart, flakes and feeder fish on a regular basis but I want to change it up even more and think this might be a good choice.

So what do you think of white worms? let's hear it!

I've had no problem with them and no smell... I keep mine in a tupperware with holes in the lid. They are in a worm potting mixture and I keep a piece of slate on top of a little indentation in the soil. I feed them baby oatmeal, dry, about 1 teaspoon and after I sprinkle it on the indented spot I squirt it with a spray of water and put the slate back on.

In the summer they go in the refrigerator, in the winter into a window frame with shutters down to trap the cool air. I think they prefer temps in the upper 50's to low 60's.

I was told they were high in fat, so my cichlids only get them once/week. Unless some female needs a boost, then I might feed her 2 times/week. To feed, pick up the slate and swish it in a cup of water. Easy as pie. I don't feed more than they can consume in a couple of days, maybe that is why there is no smell...
