I just bought a 75 gallon tank!! YEAH!!!!!!!!! Now i am gettign ready to set this thing up. The tank is a lil dirty form the store. What is the best way to clean it out prior to filling it up with water!!!!!!!!!!!??
ALSO!!!!!!!!! I understand that u cannot over filter! I am thinking of getting a RENA XP3 filter which i would think would filter my tank. I am notcing many of you guys are using a canister and Hang on filter? DO i need to??????
I also plan on getting a air pump to increase oxygen flow in the tank, will that allow me to run just the one filter or does it matter??

if it's just dusty...rinse it out with hot hot water..killing bacteria and rinsing the junk out..dont wanna use soap! if you do or did, make sure you rinse it repeatedly to ensure no soap residue is left. it is true! you can never have too much filtration! dont know much bout the xp3..but i, in the past have used fluval canister filters with no problem. but now i stick to hang on filters, they are less maint, and work very well, and no plumbing work! you def need an air pump, rated to the size of your aquarium. hope to have given you some direction! :shark:

just rise it out with warm water, you can wipe it out with a paper towel or cotton rag ,no soap!
Im not a big fan of canisters lately,Id get two emp 400s cheaper than a canister

I used wet paper towel with my tanks, it get's any debris up pretty good and it wont have soap residue on like dish cloths etc.

Ok am wondering about noise. I would think a canister is much quiter, am I wrong?/ Is there a noise factor having two Emporers??(sp)
