Make your own Eco-Sphere?

okay, im sure lots of you have heard of the EcoSphere, if not check out

its actually pretty effn' cool!! but waaay over priced..

Im wondering if its possible to make your own? where would I find this stuff?

Yah, I've seen these before. I'm sure you could try to make your own set up by trial and error. I'd use a 5 gallon tank, and go for a fresh water one. The only cheat you'll have to use is adding more water, unless you can figure a way to seal it airtight.


Keep us posted if you try it, I'm kinda curious.

i may go for it.. the ones you can buy from the store are saltwater though, it says they are filtered seawater... not sure how well a freshwater one would work.

Ill have to research on the type of organisms living in these store-bought ones, and I can go from there.

ah, i got it, ive discovered the type of shrimp used, and what the sea water mix is, so Im going to attempt it here in a while
