I bought these to Oscars a couple of weeks ago from my lfs. $10 each. Its an albino and tiger oscar. I think that they are breeding. Does anybody have experience with breeding oscars and what kinds of things the oscars did in steps. thnx.

no point in saving the fry, you don't have enough room for the oscars you just bought. once you have suitable housing, then worry about breeding.

Thats a harsh way of saying it but yes the tank is too small upgrade soon as far as the spawning goes just watch

i don't think it's harsh, a 55 is too small for one grown oscar, for two you should have at least 90 gallons. if you don't have anywhere to put babies, it isn't feasible to try and keep them.
think about it, 55g's are only 12 or 13 inches wide, a fully grown oscar gets 14 inches. . .

i dont disagree with you i personally would not house 2 oscars in a 55 for life all im saying is that it may have come off as rude thats all sorry to offend

some times it takes a hard thud on the head to listen. looks like he has no options but to let them breed. you can take the eggs out so you dont even end up with fry.

I don't think I see any stubborness on the part of the OP resisting or arguing that the oscars do not require a bigger tank. Which would negate a need to be rude or deliver thuds.

Seems he was just looking for breeding characteristics. In fact he never mentions their size. They could easily be sexually mature enogh to breed and still be maintained in a 55, for the short term, albeit very short.

I'd put in some cover for fry, if and when you get them, move them to a 20, eventually and work on an upgrade to a 90/125.
