I have a 14 Gallon reef tank, good lighting etc. . . my water is perfect!

I HAD...

1 sixline wrasse
1 Percula clown
1 blue yellow tail damsel
2 Snails
1 hermet crab
2 serpent stars
1 Plate coral
Live Rock

Now the only living things in my tank are the snails, plate coral, herment crab, serpent stars... One night i went to sleep and when i woke up i couldnt find my wrasse... i read up online about them and found it was normal to not see them for a while... after a few days i was concerned so i picked out my live rock one by one and it was just gone, no where to be found... Two days later my clown fish was found dead at the bottom of my tank, with nothing but its head and bones left... but i found it dead when i woke up in the morning. Same with my Damsel fish, but a few days after the clown... I HAVE NO CLUE what on earth it could be... unless my coral eats fish...??? PLEASE HELP the pet store doesnt know anything!

Im freshwater only. However the thought comes to mind to try watching the tank at night and see whats going on..

Agree with blue here...with your lights off, get a torch that has a red filter on it and watch your rock work etc etc...you will see all manner of critters that appear after lights out..it really does sound like you have a predator hiding in the rocks somewhere..find it and remove...

Sounds silly, but, in case you dont know about red lights...fish cannot see that part of the colour spectrum..

Hope that helps

If your in the US, that would be a flashlight. I just started a 5 gal reef, and got 2 small crabs with my liverock. I saw them the first day, and still see them now and again, but I could very easily have never seen them if I wasnt looking so close. It could be a hitchhiker you have yet to see. Also, could you describe your "perfect" water? What are the test results? How/when do you do your water changes? It is possible the fish died from something wrong in the water(or even parasites) and then the inverts ate the remains.

my water
PH- 8.3
salinity - perfect ( have a floating device )
amonia - 0.2
nitrite- 0
temp- 77 degrees

my fish did have some white spots on him.. but i could only see them when my blue lights were on...

where do i get the flashlight?

So what are your nitrAte readings? The fact that you have amonia is a bad sign.

Im just getting into SW so i'm not sure about SW ich, but I know in FW its little white spots. If you have amonia, and a parasite(like ICH) it is quite possible the fish died from this.

same with saltwater. your fish most likely have ich. predetors are also likely
as far as getting a flashlight... im sure you knowwhere to get one. then jsut get a piece of red plastic or even a red sharpie and some plastic wrap.
