I dont know, that cat doesnt look over 46 inches. You could probably have 2 and still be within the inch per gallon rule.

IME your filter will get clogged pretty quick with something like that. . . the substrate that your variety is most comfortable generally tends to clump quite easily, might have to keep an eye on it. . .

That species is really known for jumping too. I'd suggest a tight fitting lid with some weight on it.
Have you tried handfeeding?

He wont eat flake food, you have to have feeders. You might want to invest in a rena hairball 2000 filter.

You know it will get lonely in there. You might need another and then you're WAAAYYY overstoking that tank. I recommend investing in a 55g.

I don't see a filter on your tank and most importantly, you have no water in the tank. I think if you filled your tank to 1" from the top, your problems will disappear. Keep us updated.

I'm surprised yours won't take flake food. Try something that's smellier. Mine likes smelly flake food - she goes wild for it and none of the other fish get to eat : )

I agree, if it starts to make alot of noise you haven't filled the tank high enough

it needs some hiding places. try getting it some driftwood kitty furniture or something.
I know it sounds odd, but try canned cat food. all of these guys I have even seen go nuts for it.

Or, you could get a couple of small young'uns to cruise the botton for missed morsels.

Directions for keeping catfish:
Minimum tank size: 400 gallons per catfish adult, 150 gallons per juvenile.
Feeding: Carnivore. Feed dead fish, canned cat food, and dry cat food.
Siphon tank every day after feedings. Do not use gravel. It makes too much of a mess. Use litter. Water Temp: Uh, don't add water... Temperment: Aggressive towards other fish, but can live with other catfish. Will eat other fish.
As far as I'm concerned, you're WAAAAAAAY overstocked.
Hahahahaha!

Ok, we decided that he needed a friend and the LFS said that this dog fish would be ok.

dogfish are a marine species and require a very large aquarium and cold water.
he'll live in there for a while, but you should eventually get him his own 500G+ tank.
as for food, most people like pedugree, but I prefer science diet.

That's good, because we've been feeding it science diet! It makes its scales look like a nice shiny coat:D

Now see this is what sets us apart from other forums IMO. We're a community of fun, interesting people, not just some folks showing off their fish.

If you want to keep the catfish and dogfaced puffer, I'd suggest a 500 gallon+ tank. :D

you may need some sort of divider until you know whether or not these two species will get along in such a small space.

You should implement your famous drip system to siphon off waste as soon as they appear. Some species of dogfish will consume waste but it all depends on the personality of this particular one that you got. Did your LFS guarantee a poop eater ?

do they let you feed them freeze dried krill and bloodworms by hand?

Well many will say they arnt compatible, but really a dogfish is like a male betta, some are mean to other fish and some are fine, just keep an eye on them, and get a bigger tank
